Tanti auguri a me

Ieri a Roma si è svolto il pranzo del mio compleanno -Per l’occasione,siamo riusciti a coinvolgere tutte le amiche(grazie )Alessandro e Diego sono rimasti a casa,mentre di sono riuniti tutta la Famiglia di Giulia -C’è stato, il coro del compleanno,ma purtroppo è qui una tiratina di orecchie )nessuno ha fatto il video erano troppo occupati a cantare -Peccato perché si sono aggiunti al coro gli altri tavoli -Sarà,per l’anno prossimo.Sabrina e Gaia,vi vedo prima dell’anno☺️😊🤩😂Yesterday in Rome my birthday lunch took place -For the occasion, we managed to involve all my friends (thank you) Alessandro and Diego stayed at home, while Giulia’s whole family gathered -There was the birthday choir, but unfortunately no one made the video, they were too busy singing -Pity because the other tables joined in -It’ll be for next year.Sabrina and Gaia,see you before the year☺️😊🤩😂

Passeggiata a Valmontone

Ieri siamo dovuti andare a Palestrina,per ritirare il nuovo busto,e così mentre abbiamo dovuto aspettare per il ritiro,ne abbiamo approfittato,per andare in un centro commerciale (outlet )li vicino che era da un po’ di tempo che non ci andavamo-anche se il tempo non era dei migliori,non ha piovuto anche se era nuvoloso.Io ho preso degli occhiali da sole,e una giacca viola(che si vede in foto)Yesterday we had to go to Palestrina, to pick up the new bust, and so while we had to wait for the collection, we took the opportunity to go to a mall (outlet) nearby that was a while since we went there-although the weather was not the best, it did not rain even if it was cloudy. I took some sunglasses, and one jacket already there is purple (which you can see in the picture)

La fauna selvatica di Bonita Spring è molto differente di quella di North Bay, Ontario in Canada (dove abito io). Durante la mia prima visita in mattinata, ho visto un anhinga che nuotava in un laghetto, esponendo solamente il collo e la testa, sembrando un serpente che avanzava nell’acqua. Dopo saltò su un tronco d’albero mezzo sommerso e incominciò ad inghiottire un pesce luna attraverso il suo lungo e sottile collo. Nello stesso tempo ho ammirato con curiosità numerosi aironi di differenti dimensioni. In un altro laghetto ho visto numerosi alligatori e tartarughe. Durante un giro in bicicletta in paese con Rosalba alcune persone ci hanno indicato un gruppo di alligatori appena nati non più lunghi di 25 cm. Durante la nostra gita con una kayak sul fiume Imperial abbiamo visto un maestoso airone nero crestato e pure un gruppo di delfini scherzosi che ci hanno permesso di seguirli per la maggior parte del percorso. Quasi ogni giorno dalla spiaggia potevamo vedere delfini e una varietà di uccelli che svolazzavano nel vento. Debbo dire che quello che mi ha piacevolmente impressionato di più a riguardo della fauna di Bonita Spring era l’abbondanza di coniglietti bruni che si trovavano dappertutto, più abbondanti degli scoiattoli che abbiamo a North Bay. I coniglietti sono i miei preferiti. Una creatura che non mi ha fatto piacere incontrare e’ stato il grosso topo delle palme. Questo tipo di topi usa l’albero delle palme come abitazione e certe volte si vedono alcuni di questi animali morti alla base dell’albero.
La vista degli alberi delle palme e’ una novità per me, mentre i pini rossi e bianchi che crescono in mezzo alle palme, sono comuni dove abito io.
C’è tanto da vedere e da esplorare in Florida dove abita Rosalba senza bisogno di andare troppo lontano.

The wildlife at Rosalba’s place is very different from that of home in North Bay, ON.  On my first morning visiting, I watched an anhinga swim through the water with just its neck and head exposed so that it looked like a snake pulsing forward.  It settled on a log and began to force the sunfish it had captured down its long slender neck.  At this same pond I would watch with curiosity the herons – including Great Blue Herons – the ibis and the egrets.  At another pond, I saw alligators and turtles.  On a bike ride through the community, Rosalba and I were lucky  to have pointed out to us some newly-hatched baby alligators – not much bigger than about 25 cm I’d say.  As we paddled kayaks in the Imperial River, we saw a black-crowned night heron, and also several playful dolphins that allowed us to follow them for most of the journey. More dolphins appeared at our days at the beach, as well as teams of terns, rather funny-looking birds, but also committed as they firmly held their ground into the wind.  Now I’m a fairly simple woman with simple loves.  And so the wildlife that stood out to me the most were the bounty of little brown bunnies everywhere – more abundant than the squirrels at home.  Bunnies are by far my favourite.

The one creature I did not enjoy meeting were the palm rats.  We would find a few dead ones at the base of palm trees every now and again, and after some research, I discovered they frequently make palm trees their homes – gross! Other than that discovery, the palm trees were beautiful and foreign sights.  I was surprised to find white and red pines growing alongside them, which we of course have at home.  

So much to explore at Rosalba’s Florida home without venturing from her neighborhood. Amazing!

Lunedì abbiamo fatto una passeggiata intorno al lago di Nemi, forse il più grazioso dei Castelli Romani. Un paesino a picco su un lago pieno di segreti, fra cui navi romane trovate sul suo fondo e un semi-intatto tempio alla dea Diana, non visitabile ufficialmente purtroppo, e incredibilmente facente parte della proprietà della fattoria “Il Nemus”. Altre volte siamo stati lì e gentilmente ce lo hanno fatto visitare, coi suoi pavimenti a mosaici, che affaccia direttamente sul lago. Inoltre abbiamo comprato presso di loro molti barattoli di marmellata di rose antiche, una specialità prodotta da questi due simpatici signori che coltivano queste varietà di profumatissime rose che non hanno mai subito modifiche: la rosa damascena e la centifolia. In questa fattoria hanno percorsi didattici per bambini, animali come asini e caprette e un “teatro di paglia”, attività in cui spiegano le antiche origini di questi luoghi, da sempre votati al culto della Dea. La cosa bizzarra è che tutti gli animali della fattoria, per un puro caso, gatti compresi, sono esclusivamente femmine! NEMI.On Monday we took a walk around Lake Nemi, perhaps the prettiest of the Castelli Romani. A small village overlooking a lake full of secrets, including Roman ships found at the bottom of it and a semi-underground temple to the goddess Diana, not officially visitable unfortunately, and incredibly part of the property of the farm “Il Nemus”. Other times we have been there and they kindly let us visit it, with its mosaic floors, overlooking the lake. We also bought from them many jars of old rose jam, a speciality produced by these two nice gentlemen who grow these varieties of fragrant roses that have never been altered: the Damask rose and the Centifolia. On this farm they have educational paths for children, animals such as donkeys and goats and a “straw theatre”, activities in which they explain the ancient origins of these places, which have always been devoted to the cult of the Goddess. The bizarre thing is that all the animals on the farm, by pure chance, including cats, are exclusively female! Giorni della merla

I giorni della merla,ovvero 29 30 31 gennaio 1 febbraio,sono nominati “I Giorni della merla”- La lèggeva vuole che siano i tre giorni dell’anno più freddi-Secondo la leggenda le merle un tempo avevano il piumaggio bianco. Capitò che, durante un anno particolarmente freddo, una merla coi suoi pulcini volava in cerca di cibo, senza trovarne. Si rifugiò su un albero, e poi per trovare riparo da una grande nevicata, sotto una gronda. Ma la tormenta imperversava. E così, per trovare un rifugio più mite, la famigliola si nascose dentro un comignolo da cui proveniva fumo e tepore. Quando riemersero, il primo febbraio, trovarono una sorpresa bella e una brutta. La bella era un tiepido sole spuntato finalmente a riscaldarli. La brutta che il loro piumaggio aveva mutato colore, ed era diventato nero per la fuliggine. Da noi il tempo per ora,sta rispettando la tradizione,da voi?!?Speriamo che la primavera sia bella!!

The days of the blackbird, 29, 30, 31 January and 1 February, are known as ‘the days of the blackbird’. According to legend, blackbirds used to have white plumage. It happened that, during a particularly cold year, a blackbird and its chicks flew in search of food, without finding any. It took refuge in a tree, and then to find shelter from a great snowfall, under an eaves. But the storm was raging. So, in order to find a milder shelter, the little family hid in a chimney from which smoke and warmth came. When they re-emerged on the first of February, they found a good and a bad surprise. The good one was a warm sun that had finally come out to warm them up. Ricetta di Bruno.
Verdure al forno.
Ingredienti:
1 finocchio tagliato a listarelle,
2 carote tagliate a rondelle sottili,
2 cucchiai di pangrattato,
1 patata lessa tagliata sottile,
pezzettini di formaggio molle o 1 mozzarella,
un pochino di sale,
Olio q.b.
una spolverata di Parmigiano grattugiato.

Olio e pangrattato ,finocchi più sale,foglie di basilico pangrattato e olio,Carole e olio,patate lesse(cuociono prima)Pangrattato, parmigiano, sale…mezz’ora di forno a 200°, poi 10 minuti di grill (noi abbiamo un vecchio forno a gas…per tempo e temperatura non garantisco😰)

Bruno’s recipe.Baked vegetables.Ingredients: 1 fennel cut into strips, 2 carrots cut into thin rounds, 2 spoons of breadcrumbs, 1 boiled potato cut into thin slices, small pieces of soft cheese or 1 mozzarella, a little salt, oil to taste, a sprinkling of grated Parmesan.

Oil and breadcrumbs, fennel plus salt, basil leaves, breadcrumbs and oil, Carole and oil, boiled potatoes (they cook first), breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, salt…half an hour in the oven at 200°, then 10 minutes of grill (we have an old gas oven…for time and temperature I don’t guarantee😰)

Un agosto intenso ,ma piacevole!

Anche quest’anno,dal 11 al 19 agosto abbiamo avuto la piacevole compagnia dei nipoti-Sono stati circa due settimane-

Come ben sapete,ha fatto molto caldo,ma abbiamo speso molto bene il tempo,tra passeggiate,nuotate in piscina,lo scartamento dei regali,uscite nei vari ristoranti.Purtroppo quest’anno dato il periodo di ferie,non ci sono stati i cavalli,ma si rifaranno quanto prima!!

Also this year, from 11 to 19 August we had the pleasant company of grandchildren-have been about two weeks-as you know, it was very hot, but we spent very well the time, including walks, swimming in the pool, the unwrapping of gifts, outputs in various restaurants. Dal 10al 21 luglio,abbiamo avuto l’onore di poter ospitare la cara zia Nella-Anche se in quella settimana,il tempo è stato più fresco del solito,abbiamo goduto al massimo,la presenza di zia nella-Finalmente le ho potuto mostrare come nuoto,e abbiamo potuto fare qualche gita fuori porta,come al mercato centro commerciale,e ristorante-questa volta non ci sono state visite,la prossima vedremo!!Arrivederci😘☺️

Finally, for some time now, the Zappalà house has reopened its doors, and we have started to see people – Suzy has come, of whom I unfortunately do not have a photo, Elena, so we finally got to meet Alessandro Giulia with Sabina, and last weekend we were visited by Tony with Marcello – (obviously with due caution) who will be next?! Nido di Tortore

Questa primavera,abbiamo ospitato nel nostro giardino,una coppia di tortore-Così piano piano poco a poco,una volta scoperti,ci siamo appassionati a loro,e una volta scoperti ,ogni volta che uscivamo da lontano,li tenevamo d’occhio,per non spaventarli-Hanno fatto il nido sull’albero della palma,(proprio vicino a dove mangiamo fuori,così dovevamo fare attenzione)sono rimasti lì abbastanza,circa 2mesi almeno-Abbiamo potuto osservare i loro movimenti,e le “guerre”con gli altri uccelli!!!
Sono nati tre cuccioli,e sono tristemente partiti ieri-Chissà se prima o dopo ritorneranno a fare altri nidi?!voi avete nidi nei vostri giardini o balconi?!se si cosa!?

This spring, we hosted in our garden, a couple of turtle doves-so little by little, once discovered, we became fond of them, and once discovered, every time we went out from far away, we kept an eye on them, not to scare them away-they made the nest on the palm tree, (right next to where we eat out, so we had to be careful) they stayed there long enough, about 2 months at least-we could observe their movements, and the “wars” with other birds!!!Three puppies were born, and they sadly left yesterday – I wonder if they’ll come back to nest again sooner or later!

Ora della piscina !!!

L’altro ieri,finalmente,dopo due anni e mezzo,ho finalmente potuto rivedere e prendere i primi contatti ,con la piscina !!

È stato molto bello,rientrare in acqua dopo così tanto tempo!!!

Certo,mi devo abituare alla nuova situazione,ma sono sicura che a poco a poco c’è la farò!!!

Per L’occasione,la parrucchiera è venuta,e ho finalmente potuto tagliare i capelli!!

The day before yesterday, after two and a half years, I was finally able to see and make my first contacts with the pool! It was very nice to get back in the water after such a long time! Of course, I have to get used to the new situation, but I’m sure that little by little I will make it!!! For the occasion, the hairdresser came, and I could finally cut my hair!! Let’s hope that this is the beginning of a new chapter more positive and serene for everyone!
